  • Coordinates training of journalists and tobacco control advocates within priority ATCC countries on use of media for tobacco control;
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive database of journalists involved in tobacco control issues in SSA and maintain relationships with them;
  • Feeds story ideas, reports, press releases and other International and local reports/materials to key reporters in Africa;
  • Facilitates access to technical assistance for  ATCC grantees running media advocacy campaigns within their grants;
  • Supportes media advocacy training elements of the FCTC Shadow Reports and Industry Monitor reports projects and deliver strategies to disseminate regional shadow reporting and industry monitoring reports;
  • Works with investigative journalists and other media to expose tobacco industry strategies and tactics;
  • Performs daily media monitoring, analysis and record keeping of mention of tobacco control in the media.
